Pathways Dental Clinic provides Calgary tooth extractions. Although our ultimate goal is always to save your tooth, sometimes teeth extractions are necessary. The tooth might have decay, gum disease, or a fracture beyond what can be repaired. Sometimes a tooth must be extracted to remove an infection, where the infection can spread to other spaces if the tooth remains.
The tooth can need extraction for causes such as:
- Large carious lesion (cavity) and extensive tooth structure loss
- Fractured teeth and cracks in teeth
- Advanced gum disease (bone loss)
- Infection and failing previous Calgary endodontic treatments (root canals) that do not have a good chance of success
- Teeth that block or impede other teeth from coming into their ideal position
- If baby teeth don’t fall out in time to allow the permanent teeth to come in
- To create room for the teeth that are being moved into place during orthodontic treatment
