From all of us at Pathways Dental Clinic, we hope this message finds you and your family members whom you have entrusted us to care for well.
COVID-19 has proven to be a challenging disease in many ways. Disrupting many of the established notions of preventive care and well-being in our society.
The Pathways Dental team is proud to play a significant role in helping patients maintain excellent oral health through a collaborative and proactive approach, even in difficult times such as these.
In light of the historic times in which we find ourselves, I am pleased to share important developments designed to positively impact ongoing operations at our office on an ongoing basis.
We have employed many protocols in our office to ensure you and your family’s safety when visiting our NE Calgary Dental Clinic.
All of the following updated COVID-related protocols have been well-received. The feedback from patients who have visited us since our re-opening in May has been tremendously positive, as we strive to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for our patients and our team. We are beyond appreciative and encouraged by the level of trust and confidence expressed during visits. Our team has been working diligently to exercise strict guidelines established by the Alberta Health Services (AHS), Alberta Dental Association & College (ADA&C), and Health Canada.
Everything starts with the careful screening of patients, from the time of appointment scheduling to appointment confirmation calls to arrival at the clinic. Patients are asked very specific health and risk assessment questions. Each patient is asked to take their temperature upon entering our clinic.
Everyone that enters is instructed to sanitize their hands with alcohol-based (70%) sanitizer. Once seated, the patient is given an hydrogen peroxide oral rinse before the visit proceeds for all aerosol generating procedures.
Every patient/guardian is required to wear a mask at all times in our clinic.
We are extremely lucky to have ample space in our clinic. We have ensured that, should there be more than one person/family in the waiting room, there is seating with proper physical distancing (2m+).
We also have a “Virtual Waiting Room” system implemented in our practice. What this means is that when a patient texts us “HERE” upon arrival, it will check them in automatically. Patients will then wait in their vehicle (if possible) until the room is ready and will be notified to enter to limit any waiting time in the common area.
We have also moved most of our forms digital. However, we understand that some things must be signed on-the-go and in person in our clinic. Rest assured every item is thoroughly disinfected after being used.
Each team member wears a minimum ASTM level III face mask at all times. The back clinical team wears a minimum a surgical mask, a face shield and complete surgical gowns and caps. We also greatly value the safety of our team.
All working surfaces are thoroughly disinfected immediately upon completion of care for any given patient, and instruments are promptly sterilized. Disinfection of our operatories is done a minimum twice on all surfaces in between patients. In the front reception area, our admin team is constantly disinfecting all surfaces. All of our disinfectants are effective against all pathogens including COVID-19.
Lastly, all of our staff has been properly trained to practice excellent hand hygiene as well as proper donning and doffing of PPE. (ie. equipping and taking off PPE).
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
